Every person must decide whether they will believe in Jesus or not. The decision to believe in Him means living a life of following in his footsteps as He guides us. We become Jesus' disciples, students in his way of life. This involves our initial confession, a regular sacrificial commitment, and making God's commission to make disciples the mission of our lives. A disciple takes their next step toward Jesus.
DISCIPLE: BELIEVING TO FOLLOWING
John 13
Disciples live like their teacher. We must live in humble submission.
If Jesus is going to be the Lord of our lives, then he must be the Lord of all, or he’s not Lord at all. Jesus must be the Lord of our lives.
If we’re going to be a disciple of Jesus, we need to love people like He loved people.
Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Acts 2:38 – “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
To live like Jesus we must be humble in our submission, allow Jesus to be the Lord of our lives, and love others the way that Jesus loves us.
Practice for this week:
Spend time contemplating this question “Who is the Lord of your life.” Is it you? Your significant other? Money? Jesus is the only Lord worthy of your life. You cannot serve two masters. If you haven’t and you need to, make Jesus the Lord of every area of your life.
