Episode Notes

There’s something in all of us that wants to HIDE our mess, COVER our tracks, and PRETEND things are fine when they’re not.

1. The CONTEXT. (v. 9)

2. The CONTRAST. (v. 10-13)

Six Signs you might be a Modern-day Pharisee:

You spend more time focusing on what you HATE than what you love.

You zoom in on OTHER’S sin but act as if your own doesn’t exist.

You spread ACCUSATIONS against others without going to them directly.

You are quick to pass JUDGEMENT.

You rarely ever ADMIT you are wrong and cannot take CORRECTION.

You STAY in your flock.

ASK someone close to you if they see ANY of these six signs in you.

3. The CHALLENGE. (v. 14)

“…the first step of living in a community with blood-stained pews is being honest

with ourselves - honest about how we are broken, honest that we are bleeding, honest

that we need help.” - Carl Kuhl, Blood Stained Pews

Takeaway:

Make it your DAILY PRAYER to say, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Will you come clean?
